Electromagnetic Dulcimer – Instrument

Instrument Close-Up

A string instrument actuated by four electromagnets which push and pull the strings at precise rates to produce unique overtones and timbres. In performances, the instrument has been controlled remotely via networked OSC messages or through a combination of a hardware MIDI controller and touching the instrument directly. While the instrument produces acoustic sounds, it does not resonate much and must be connected to an amplifier. Audio and video coming soon!
