Rain in Raissa – Chamber Orchestra

Mountains Near X'ian, China

Composed for a reading with Alarm Will Sound, this work is a response to Raissa, one of Italo Calvino’s mysterious Invisible Cities. Raissa appears at first to be depressing, a horrible place to live, and yet in each moment the random actions of one person positively impact another who in turn affects another and so on spinning an invisible thread that connects the inhabitants of the city and “every second the unhappy city creates a happy city unaware of its own existence.”
